i like brown men

Yep, I like my men brown, not pasty doughy white. Gingerbread men that is, what were you thinking??

Baking fever has definitely docked itself in my brain for now. Gonna make these adorable little brown men this weekend with the kids....

Howabout joining in the fun?

6 oz bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
½ cup butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground ginger
¾ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground cloves
1 egg
1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
Decorative icing

1. Melt chocolate in microwave.

2. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 secs. Beat in the melted chocolate, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ginger, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves, scrapping sides of bowl occasionally.

3. Beat in egg until well combined. Beat in as much of the flour as possible with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour. Divide dough in half.

4. Preheat oven to 175C. Lightly grease or line cookie sheets with wax paper, set aside. On lightly floured surface, roll half the dough at a time until 1/8 inch thick. Using a 2 ½ to 3 inch people-shaped cutter, cut the dough, rerolling scraps as necessary. Place 1 inch apart on prepared cookie sheets.

5. Bake for 10 mins or until edges are set. Cool then decorate.

Bung Mokhtar: I’m being sexually harassed

This was a headline in The Star today.

stressed out

This colleague of mine is so damn stressed out right now.
Poor babe. I bet if she's given the chance, she"ll change jobs at the drop of a hat. I dont blame her though, the portfolio she's handling is so full of crap the mere mention of it makes me cringe. Why cant management be more transparent in its direction? Sumtimes it just seems that we are all heading for a crash & burn with faulty brakes.

today i hate # 1: weapons

On BBC's website today : "US President Barack Obama has said he does not rule out arming the rebels seeking to overthrow Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi".

WTF?????!!!!!!

Does he really think that pushing in more weapons will solve the problem? I think this idea is even worse than having ground troops in! Now I'm beginning to wonder....what is the real gameplan here?

moving house

The final push for moving house was last saturday. The last lorry has come and gone, leaving me with an Everest-sized heap of boxes and monstrous mess to sort out. The in-laws came that Saturday to help out but ended up kinda stressing me up instead. Anyways, in the end our fusebox went kaput and we all had to march over to my BIL's house for the night :( Padan muka I.

I've managed to clear out and clean up most of the mess by last nite. Mr Barge, drill the curtain rods in please!!! I really dont like the idea of draping the bedsheets over the windows for privacy....it just looks soooo.....bujang......

Well, all this unpacking has got me thinking....what a myrid collection of stuff I have managed to store over the years! What a mixture of emotions, sentiments and memories I have in all the stuff we brought along with us! Most of the stuff I wouldn't ever use again but I just cant find the heart to throw them out...like my old law books which are by now waaayyyy obsolete, old photos, old certificates (what can I do with my SRP cert??), worn out bright purple shoes (please dont ask!), moth-eaten books (I've even kept my Agatha Christie, Arthur C Clarke, Famous Five, Secret Seven, The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books), hubby's old lovenotes (please God, dont let my kids see them, they'll never look at me the same again) and even my kids' dried up tali pusat all kept in the same tupperware (I know, eeuuwwww, but my mom said this will keep them close in their hearts forever, so its worth taking the chance).

At the same time, there's also alot of stuff which obviously were not packed in by me (hubby, bibik, the guilty party please put your hand up!). There's an opened pack of diapers (my youngest stopped using diapers 4 yrs ago), bunches of keys to God knows what locks, the key to our old car, bent out of shape badminton rackets, loads and loads of empty plastic containers, those worn out bright purple shoes (again), 23 caps (yes, I actually counted them) and the ripped open laundry basket. Sheesh. I've started to slowly throw these out, behind Mr I-Dont-Believe-In-Throwing-Things-Away's back of course.

There's still quite a few boxes unopened. I wonder what I'll find....

today i love # 1 : cute recipes

Have you ever fallen into a sudden mood to just cook up a storm with such a deep-rooted pressing urgency? There are times I get really lazy about cooking but then there are also phases when I'm all about baking, roasting, frying, kneading, broiling (but I never had anything for cleaning up afterwards...I hate and will always hate, loathe & depise that part) whatever I can get may hands on and sumtimes all in one day!

Well, I can feel that mood coming on, it's still just bubbling on my horizon right now but it's surely coming, swiftly and stealthly....

So I took to my trusty office-owned laptop to surf for new recipes and whilst in my illegal-office-hours-surfing I came across this really cute site .... http://www.theydrawandcook.com/ ....check it out!

Dun know whether the recipes work or not but they are definitely stick-on-your-fridge-to-show-off material!! Here's some samples of dang good artistic work posted on the site .....

Good stuff eh?

stay-at-home mom vs career woman

I need to stress that I used "career woman" instead of "working woman" coz stay-at-home moms are also working women right?? Before i started my current job, i was a stay-at-home mom for a very busy & hectic 8 mths. I was the maid, the cleaner, the cook, the gardener, the educator, the baby-sitter, the lover/goddess (that one was for Mr Barge...just in case he reads this post :)) and I luvd it!! The kids were happy, the hubby was happy, the house was clean, everything was running smoothly on oiled wheels.....but then suddenly I had to mess up things and got myself employed....bummer. Kinda miss being a stay-at-home mom now.

wierd thotless dressing

Now i really shudn't be saying this but i do wish that sumtimes people would just dress more appropriately. During lunch yesterday i saw a really fat man (please, i'm not prejudiced against weight-challenged people...this was just an observation) sitting at the table facing me. He was wearing pants so tight it was embraced in every crevice of his netherparts, which ended up looking like an extra-cushioned camel-toed woman's netherpart. Shish!! You know how it is sumtimes when you happen to see sumthing so gross you just find it so hard not too look at it carefully again? Well, i think i collected my fair share of dosa that day........
